Types of mascara wands

The quality of a mascara is determined by the composition and the type of brush, that is, its size and shape as well as the material from which it was made. What are the types of mascara wands and which is the best for short eyelashes?

The shape and size of mascara brush

One mascara can give different results depending on how and with what we apply it. This is why it’s good to think of your own expectations before buying the product. Once you establish that, choose the shape and size of the mascara brush that will help you fulfil the task.

What else is worth paying attention to when choosing the brush? The shape and size of the eyelash brush is indeed important, but also the material from which it is made. Silicone wands are the most durable and hygienic and enable the most precise make-up. They separate even the shortest and thinnest eyelashes.

Nevertheless, every woman should decide for herself what material she prefers. There is no such thing as the best eyelash brush – everyone might prefer a completely different method.

The most popular types of mascara wands:

Classic bristle wand

There are women who love it so much that they don’t see the need to experiment. This choice is justified especially in the case of sensitive eyes. It turns out that the use of classic wands reduced the risk of irritations. Such brushes may thicken the lashes and give them satisfactory volume, but they usually separate the lashes less precisely.

Flat, plastic wand with a classic shape

As it has already been mentioned, plastic brushes allow more precise separation of individual lashes, and thus – easier application of mascara. In addition, it prevents clumps and lumpiness.

Comb wand

This brush will satisfy the needs of short and not too thick eyelashes. It makes it easy to reach even the shortest hairs, which are optically elongated and thickened as a result.

Rubber, thin and long wand

A brush of this shape is designed to maximize lash length. To emphasize only the tips of the eyelashes, touch them delicately with the tip of the brush.

Tapered brush

This type of wand is used to curl eyelashes at the corners of the eyes, which are often too short for the classic brush to reach, let alone cover. Some women use this brush to achieve a cat eye effect.

Curved brush with bristles of different length

This kind of brush is is usually made of silicon. It’s good for women with straght, hard to curl lashes. The effect is reinforced with each successive layer of mascara: eyelashes become more curled, and the eyes gain a more intense frame. If the latter is your priority, choose a waterproof formula.

Ball wand

A round brush most effectively reaches even the shortest eyelashes, regardless of their position. As a result, eyelashes are entirely covered.

Micro wand

This small brush small reaches the eyelashes at the base, slightly raises and optically lengthens them.

Oversize wand

This type of mascara brush thickens and adds volume. In addition, it is very easy to use – thanks to the fact that a large amount of formula accumulates on it, a single application allows you to get a spectacular effect.

What kind of brush for short eyelashes?

For short eyelashes the best would be asymmetrical brush with bristles of different length or a small brush with thick but short bristles. In order to optically elongate the lashes, the small brush is recommended as it easily separates and lengthens our hair. The needs of short lashes will also be satisfied by the tapered wand – it will lengthen, thicken and add some volume.
