Eye make-up step by step. How to apply false eyelashes?

When it comes to make-up, for a stunning final effect you need more than just good-quality products. The most important are beautiful eyelashes. However, if you are not satisfied with your natural lashes, you can try the false ones. How to apply false eyelashes?

If yo need to emphasize your lashes on a daily basis, a simple mascara is enough. Unfortunately, it’s not that easy to find a mascara that thickens, lengthens, curls, doesn’t smudge and at the same time is extremely durable. That’s why women decide to extend their lashes or apply the false eyelashes before big events.

In this article you will find out answers to the most common questions about false lashes. How to apply them? Is it safe? Can you apply them yourself or is a visit in a salon necessary?

False Eyelashes

There are many types of false eyelashes, but the most popular ones are eyelash strips or individual lashes. During professional eyelash extensions, a beautician makes use of special individual lashes. The procedure requires proper skills and time. For one-time application it’s better to use the eyelash strips or individual false lashes that can be attached in the outer corners for example.

There are different types of false eyelashes, grouped on the basis of:

  • material: synthetic, silk, mink fur;
  • shape: traditional, artistic, eg with ornaments;
  • length, density, colour and curl.

The choice of the brand of false eyelashes, their shape and all other parameters depends on us. Vegans will certainly choose synthetic eyelashes, although the natural lashes look more naturally. It also applies to the shape of lashes – one woman will prefer natural lashes, other will choose a more expressive and theatrical set.

At-home or in-salon?

The application of false lashes may seem difficult and complicated. When it comes to eyelash extensions, the most popular in salons are 1:1 or volume methods. This is an expensive and time-consuming procedure that requires several visits in the salon. However, if you want to emphasize your eyes with eyelash strips or individual false eyelashes, you can easily do it at home. This is a relatively simple task requiring minimum manual skills. This is an opportunity to test different glues and materials as this is a great time to check whether some products make you sensitive or not.

Home application – advantages:

  • it costs much less than eyelash extensions in the salon,
  • eyelash strips are applied very quickly,
  • they can be removed any time,
  • this is a one-off solution perfect for a party,
  • we have the opportunity to test different options.

HOW TO APPLY FALSE EYELASHES?

Before you start, make sure you have all the necessary accessories, which include eyelash adhesive or a pair of tweezers to stick the eyelashes to the eyelid. Other useful tools are small scissors to cut the strip, eyelash curler to curl natural lashes and, optionally, mascara that is used to darken natural and false eyelashes.

Step 1.

First, do all the eye make-up as normally, use an eyeliner to emphasize the eyes. The application of false lashes is the last stage of make-up. Before, use the eyelash curler to curl the lashes a bit.

Step 2.

Before the first use, try the false lashes on your eyelid, shorten the strip if necessary. As a rule, the strips should be placed about 1-2 mm before the inner edge of the iris and end 1-2 mm before the outer corner of the eye so as not to hinder eyelid movements. It doesn’t need to be one long strip, an interesting effect is obtained with the use of half lashes or individual lashes.

Step 3.

Next, apply some glue to the entire length of the strip. Don’t worry if the glue is white – it will not be visible as most of the adhesives become colourless when dry. Wait 30-40 seconds for the glue to dry slightly right before the application.

Step 4.

With the use of tweezers, place the eyelash strip as close to the line of natural lashes as possible and press lightly. Until the glue is completely dry, you can make minor corrections.

Step 5.

At the end, apply a thin layer of mascara. This is an optional procedure with which you can fix your lashes and make them look as a whole.
